Annual Report

July 2021 – June 2022

GOOD SHEPHERD COMMUNITY CHURCH

2021-2022 FAMILY HIGHLIGHTS

Check out some of the ways we were able to show the world God’s glory!

Embodied Conference 2022

Professor and author Dr. Gregg Allison offered a holistic theology of the human body from conception through eternity to equip us to address pressing contemporary issues related to our bodies, including gender and sexuality.

Summer BBQ 2022

This year we celebrated our 2nd annual patriotic Summer BBQ on the back lawn at Good Shepherd. There was food, games, and so much fun for the whole family. This was a community event that allowed us to show the love of God to our neighbors!

Dunes High School Retreat

In February, we took over 250 students and leaders to Dunes Bible Camp in Long Beach, WA. We had four days of experiencing God through teaching, worship, discipleship, fun, games, and life-changing relationships.

Women’s Worship Night

The Lord was moving at our worship night this past spring. 200+ women attended from Good Shepherd and other churches in the area. The response was inspiring – the Lord is strengthening and renewing His people!

Mom-to-Mom

Last year Mom-to-Mom focused on “Leaning in…” to different parts and aspects of life. 213 moms connected and shared life with each other while the Kid Lights program had 282 kids from birth to 5th grade registered.

 Short Term Teams 2022

Romania – 10 team members

On the last evening of the Romania trip, we had a Gospel presentation and had the opportunity to pray with several students to rededicate their lives to God! The following weekend, these students joined us at the church service to worship with the rest of the church. Connecting students to the local church is a huge win!

Serbia – 8 team members

One of our Serbia leaders, Jen Karn, was able to pray with two students to receive Christ. One of them asked if he could pray his own prayer in Hungarian to accept Jesus. He then went on to lead two more of his friends to receive Christ immediately after!

Men’s Ministry

Last year, the Men’s Bible Study joined the women in studying the book of Acts. God was faithful (like always) and we are saw a renewed desire by many of our men to strengthen their walk with Jesus and become grounded in the Word and in key relationships with other men who desire the same.

Sportsmen’s Banquet

Our annual Sportsmen’s Banquet went off last year without a hitch! This year our good friend Barry Arnold shared about the miraculous, emergency landing in the Alaskan wilderness with his friend Randy Alcorn and their daughters.  Many people came through the doors for great fellowship, exciting exhibits, and yes… lots of meat!

Friday@Six Events

A highlight of this year has been the creation of our Friday@Six quarterly event, which includes an amazing dinner prepared by our Kitchen Team, worship led by some of our young guys and then a speaker who shares a message designed for men and the challenges we face. Jamie Collins and Matt Mormance were the guest speakers at our first 2 Friday@Six events.

Between the event in April and the one in June, there were over 150 men that attended.

Veterans Ministry

Veterans Breakfast 2021 – 215+ in attendance

This was offered as a free event this year with Chaplain (LTC) Jon Knoedler as the special speaker.

Veterans Events

Steve Bass started a new ministry for our honored veterans in the Spring of 2022. They had a couple of movie nights and a BBQ and between them we saw the body come together to support and fellowship with veterans and civilians alike. It will be exciting to see how this ministry grows in the coming years.

Good Shepherd School

Our Good Shepherd School ministry served 282 students last year: 234 Kindergarten through 8th grade five days a week and 48 preschool/preK three days a week. We had a staff of 31 people who daily poured into the hearts and minds of our students. Our teaching and learning focuses on a quality, academic environment that values godly character and parental involvement. We consider this ministry our mission field and strive to have Jesus at the center of all we do. We work hard to partner with families in raising these children in the way they should go and equipping them to be salt and light in their neighborhoods, athletic teams, high schools, youth groups, etc.

2021-2022 Financial Budget Report

The generosity from God’s people at Good Shepherd Community Church has been extraordinary over the past year during uncertain times. We are praising God and filled with gratitude.

  • The church continues to be debt free. We paid off our 7-year building loan in fiscal year 2020-21.
  • We ended the fiscal year slightly below our revenue target. (Our General Fund offerings were $4.5M compared to a budget of $4.6M.)
  • Some expenses came in under budget. (Ministry expenses were $4.0M compared to a budget of $4.6M.
  • Our balance sheet remained strong with cash of $4.7M, total assets of $17.6M, total net assets of $15.3M, and no long-term debt.
